I have a KT7 w/Duron 650@900. I want to upgrade. The fastest I can go is 1 GHz and 200 MHz FSB. Where can I get a 1 GHz/200 MHz FSB T Bird? I looked on www.mwave.com but they only sell 266 MHz FSB Athlons.
the kt7 should officially support up to the 1.2ghz 200fsb t-bird (you might need the latest bios). regardless, you can go to pricewatch to find a place to buy the 1ghz/200fsb or whatever else you decide to buy. also, i personally wouldn't bother going from a duron @950 to a 1ghz t-bird. it's not much of an upgrade.
I thought I was limited in the bios to 1 GHz. It's been so long since I even looked at it I can't even tell you what is what. I just remember setting the multiplier to 9, I think for 900 MHz. I think 10 is the highest. I will check for a bios upgrade to see if that will change. If I can got to 1.2 GHz, then that would be great. Thanks
oops...i don't know why i saw 950 instead of 900...regardless, i don't think it is a worthwhile upgrade. however, here you can get the latest bios to support 1200mhz+ cpu's...which would be a worthwhile upgrade if you do cpu intensive stuff
U can use the 1.2 @ 266 FSB CPU. Most 1.2 Ghz is unlocked...so from the original 9.0 X 133...it will only run at 9.0 X 100 = 900 Mhz. Then u up the multiplier to 12 X 100 = 1.2 Ghz.
