1 GB RAM vs. 512 MB

For those of you who have jumped from 512 MB RAM to 1 GB, is the price difference worth it? It looks to be about a $100-$150 difference.

i went from 512 to 1 gig and my system is noticable faster and overall performance improved. my upgrade only cost me $85

Definitely worth it for gaming or Photoshop/audio/video work, but I can't speak for general usage--I use 512MB.

yep makes a huge difference especialy if you are using photoshop .

1 Gig is great. No swapping whatsoever.

Thats what I thought until I played Everquest 2. For the first time I can remember while using 1gb I had to go to the page file.

And to the OP, if your are photoshopping or playing the newer games you almost have to have 1gb of memory for smooth gameplay

Go for the gig. 1GB of Corsair ValueSelect DDR400 is only 145 dollars right now.
