#1 Defense vs. # 1 Offense - who wins?

Indy would win. Their offense just has too many weapons at their disposal. And their defense isn't *bad*.

Even with as good as Chicago's defense is, you *still* have to put points on the board. Indy has an incredibly balanced offense and they would find a weakeness and score on them.

If Chicago had a better offense than what they do, I'd have a different opinion, but as it stands they just can't score at will like Indy.

Both teams are hot air right now until they face a real team. The Bungles don'y count, but if Ben is playing Pitts is a real deal.

Bears will lose to the first REAL team that looks at them funny. Their entire division would lose to College big 12.

welp, we'll see what happens, here's to hoping the steelers will beat the colts Monday night, then 2 weeks later the bears will trounce the steelers

You didn't look impressive against the bills either.

meh, but we got the win anyways. At least Delhomer didn't turn it over...

GO PANTHERS!

Colts. The problem with comparing #1 defense to #1 offense is that you're leaving out the other important component. What does the Bears offense rank compared to the Colts defense?

Bears #1 Defense / Colts #2 (Scoring Defense)

Colts #1 Offense / Bears #24 (Scoring Offense)

That should put it in a much better perspective.

trick question - ditka IS god

edit: I agree with the following post. The Bears are in a horrible division, and that artificially boosts their defense. The Lions make anyones defense look great. Colts would kill the bears.

Colts, easy. Look at the Bears' division, for crying out loud.

I'm a Titans fan so I know quite a bit about the division. You have the Colts and, until Leftwich broke his ankle, a probably Wild Card Jags team. Then you have the Titans and the Texans..... do I even need to explain further?

you can if you want to, but i was referring to the NFC North.

oh, and if your point is that both divisions suck, you're right. Indy is just about the only consistent team in either division.

sorry about them Titans. A great friend of mine is a Tennessee fan also.

And obviously I was referring to the Colts division. 😛 You can't debate the merit of two teams and bring up one point on one side without bringing it up on the other. The Titans have 3 wins and the Texans have 2. The Colts division is pretty horrible as well.

he was comparing the two divisions - they both have one good team, one quasi average team(vikings/Jags), and two teams in the gutter

you have a very valid point, which i failed to consider. getting down to brass tacks though... Indy > Chi-town

The only chance to see these two teams would be at the Big One.

Bears offense is only getting better, and their defense can't be stopped. The Colts have an array of options when it comes to wielding their offensive prowess.

Who wins in the Ultimate Motor City matchup?
Well it the last few years the Pats kick ass defence has shown that they can stop the Colts. Of course they also had a good offense unlike the hapless Bears.

Yes, we probably could have reached that conclusion without even laying out any facts. 😛
