Tell me if there'll be nForce3 Pro 250 boards ready to go, and I'll tell you the likelihood that I go tearing off to the bank to loot my personal line of credit...1 day,23 hours,32 mins till amd 64. Whos buying?

To tell you the truth, it really doesn't matter what kind of board you get. I'm just gonna go with the cheapest one. Since the memory controller is on the CPU, speed differences between boards **should** be negligible.

I s'pose you're right NFS4, but I would sort of like to preserve as much PCI bandwidth as practical for my SCSI cards, and so the in-the-nForce3-chip gigabit Ethernet of nF3 Pro 250 is attractive. Granted, it's probably not a huge difference in reality... hmmm!
*teeters on the edge... someone show me a Socket 754 board with four DIMM slots, and I just might succumb!* :Q

Yeah less is determined by the northbridge now, however Nvidia adds things like soundstorm which are added value and plenty of onboard components firewire usb2.0 and stuff like that is what you should look for in chipsets.

I use a Gigafast WF741-UIC 802.11b USB network adapter to connect to my D-Link DI-614+ so onboard LAN isn't really that important to me But I can see where it would be of importance to you.
