Just peered at the post, which links to: http://www.getpennytalk.com (from: devvilchick - Goddess Admin - copadeal.com forums)

It is a sort of penny a minute-type thing, but... the connection fee gets 'ya.

SERVICE CHARGES, SURCHARGES AND CONNECTION FEES Net2Phone Direct and PennyTalk cards carry a $0.99 monthly service charge. Calls to or from hotels, pay phones and cellular phones may incur surcharges. Calls originating from Puerto Rico using an "800" access number will incur a $0.015 per minute surcharge in addition to our standard "800" access number surcharge for calls that originate in the U.S. The PennyTalk card charges a $0.49 connection fee when we receive answer supervision.

(Also, there is the clause for PR and a 180 minute maximum call . :()

*Tries to do math* Hmm.

Onesuite.com local access = 2.5 c/minute, no access fee
32 minute call = 80 cents

PennyTalk
32 minute call = 32 cents + 49 cent connection fee = 81 cents.

Anything more, PennyTalk is cheaper, anything less OneSuite.

Yay Math100! :)

30min! heh. I don't think I do that much talking the whole month let alone in one phone call. My long distance bill normally is less than 50 cents.

For those of you who prefer the more traditional type long distance carrier, try Zone Long Distance. I've been using them for about a year with no problems.

4 cents a minute for 99% of my calls, 24/7. No connection fees, no monthly service charges.

According to our last few bills my family's usage is about 400 min. per month, about 50-60 calls, in-state long distance (CA) and out-of-state (TX) mostly, and our bill has never exceeded $20. This may not be the hottest deal out there, but it's one of the most flexible I've found.

I think it's worth it just to hear that long pause after I tell the SBC, Verizon, and AT&T telemarketers our rates.

Avoid this like the plague. Fine print:
Initial minimum debit or credit card charge of $15 required for this offer. Maximum call length is 180 minutes per call. Rates subject to change without notice.
I use accxx communications. Rates vary depending on the state you live in. I am in Michigan so it is 3.9 cents/minute billed at 6 sec incriments. Not to bad. Free 800 number too. Some states are higher though. The SAMs club ATT calling cards are nice too. They are only 3.4 cents per/minute or something like that.

If you live in MA, NH, or RI get one of these phone cards. RNK 1/2 cent a minute. No connection charge, monthly fees, or taxes. I've been using them for a while now and it's pretty good service for the price. Only prob I've had is that their e-mail doesn't seem to work so I have to call in and ask for my pin.
