1 ATI X1800XL AIW or 2 6800GS SLI + TV tuner ?

Hello,

I'm down to either getting 2 eVGA 6800GS video cards or 1 ATI X1800XL AIW for my Audio/Video PC (which will use for games too)... which would you go for?

other system parts

AMD Opteron 175
EPoX EP-9NPA+ SLI
4GB PQI PC 3200
2 160GB SATA
2 NEC DVD DL Burners.

Go for the X1800XL AIW. It'll be cheaper, quieter, produce less heat, and consume less power than two 6800 GS's.

X1800XL AIW - $375

2x6800GS + TV Tuner card will be more expensive.

You also get very fast encoding option on X1800XL AIW.

Holy crap, 375 for the AIW .....

So i can get the 7800 GT for 300, the x1800xl for 325, and the AIW for 375. I have some difficult choices to make this christmas. I thought I was settled on the 7800 GT but if ATI's video encoding system works as advertised, a few FPS in games i'll probably not play won't matter so much

As your focus seems to be multimedia, the X1800XL is a much better deal.
