Well got a letter from 1 and 1 online hosting that we all signed up for about 3 years ago. It said that the free promotion expires at the end of December and its 9.99 a month for three years if you keep your account.

Dont think I will be purchasing the account but it was nice while it was free.

Anyone else get this and what are you guys planning on doing with it?
 
wait, wasn't all that 1and1 free hosting super promo thing just last year? or did they have the same promotion 3 years ago?

i'm pretty sure i got in for 3 years exactly last year, around the middle of December.
 
I exceeded my bandwidth somehow and since I provided them w/ no CC they suspended my account until i gave them a CC.

They did the same to me and then sent me that $9.99 letter. But because they locked my account, I could not upgrade as the letter described. Since I thought they were so stupid to give me directions I could not follow (speaking with two tongues in a way), and since their CS department took 2-3 days to respond, I dumped them.
 
I got the same letter... Since this is the first hosting site I ever had, I am not sure if it is the best one or not. But they have been very good to me, so I like them.

And they also have another package for $4.99 a month.

Uhhh. I saw that letter and threw it out. I was under the impression that this was a three year promotion, not one-year.

that's what i thought too, although i never actually contacted their support. but just this past weekend i talked to a friend who got in the same deal last year. he uses his 1and1 account a lot, and he told me that a few weeks ago he was having a trouble with one of his domains around 2am in the morning, called up their toll-free number, and found this knowledgeable and helpful CS who actually walked him through until his problem was resolved.

i didn't even know that they have a toll-free support for the free hosting account.

I got the letter, the deal is still for 3 years, they just want to know if you want more for extra 9.99 a month.

Second host i have ever had for the fact its free good enough for me.
