That sounds like Nvidia wants to artificially limit performance and my guess as to why would be because they will eventually give GK104 another respin, and rebadge it as a gtx760ti with higher clock speeds (probably 1200mhz or so).

Fair point, but really we should consider total overclock potential as well. If both can OC the same % amount, rather than just an extra X MHz, then it really doesn't matter. Will be nice to see people post what kind of OCs they're capable of getting.
