Hi,

HP has recently launched DV9502 (17", 2GB RAM @ 667MHz, 1.8GHz AMD Turion 64 X2, 120 GB HDD) here in India at a very resonable price compared to the C2Duo.

My question is what does a 1.8GHz Turion 64 X2 compare to in Core 2 Duo terms both in raw processing power and power savings.

Does the Turion get any hotter than a C2D?

Thanks for reading through...

Turion is slower and takes up slightly more power (probably more of a chipset issue, as the TDP of the Turion is maybe a Watt or two higher than a C2D). I'd say in terms of speed, a 1.8GHz Turion would be about 10-20% slower than a 1.8GHz C2D, as the Turion X2s were a tiny bit slower than a CD, and the CD is about 0-20% slower (depending on the task) than the same frequency C2D. As for being noticeably hotter, I doubt you'd see a difference.

So probably considering all tasks on an average 10% slower than C2D. Thanks for this information.
