This number started calling my home phone relentlessly. It's a new line that I had to activate in order to use DSL but otherwise no one should have it.

Who the F is 1-800-111-1111?

I assume this is caller ID spoofing?
 
Yes, it's a way of hiding the number they're calling from. Maybe your phone company keeps records more detailed than just caller ID? If you call your phone company, can they look up the *real* number that it came from?
