I can get a 7502 QS for $700. Worth it to replace a Naples 2.0 7551 ? They both say 180 watt, but I bet the QS is actually faster, and cooler. I actially would replace the 24 core Naples I got for $375.
BTW, in the last 12 days my 7551 averaged 254k per day, and my 7452 averaged 312656, or the 7551 does 81% of a 7452, at least for these 12 days. Not sure if its worth the extra $700.
I guess it really depends on the tasks. The 7502 qs if could be clocked greater than its base clock of 1.7 (read up on serve the home forum) will perform better and much better on the AVX-2 instructions if you can get the chip frequency average increased. If not the improvement at 1.7 vs. the 7551 I don't think is that great.
The big question is whether or not the mainboard which you have in mind for the upgrade supports a swap of Naples to Rome.
It is not very likely that you can get a BIOS for this board (whichever it is) with Rome support. :-( Almost all vendors of Naples boards implemented the transition to Rome via new hardware revisions of their mainboard models.
