When and why did AMD release another duron? It looks like a 1900+ tbred with half the cache? Anyone know any other information about this?
 
It's not really for release in the US. It's aimed at countries where they can only afford a very low amount for such processors.

Oh, I know it's available in the US. It was supposed to be aimed at markets outside the US though.

Those would make a really cool budget MP workstation though. I wonder if these Durons also support MP come to think of it...

I read from xbitlabs before that you can enable full L2 cache with a little bit mod.
and better overclocking too. 🙂

YMMV. Not all of the Durons tested functioned correctly with the full cache enabled.
 
1700+ and 2500+ are still the good picks. 1700+ costs ~$45 or $50 as well. If you are really that cheap but want a good chip, find a guaranteed Tbred B 1700+ (I got mine at ExcaliberPC for $63 a while ago).
