1.6a w/WIN98SE overclock question

Running very well at 140fsb (2.24clock). Good temps, prime95 and Sandra run without error. All games play fine. As soon as I go for 141fsb (2.25clock) its all over. A buddy of mine says its due to Win98SE not allowing anything over 2.24 without an update of some kind. Is this true? If so what is the update needed? I did a search and could find nothing (not lazy, maybe just ignorant).

1.6a, MSI 845 Ultra-Aru, AVC Sunflower, Antec 400watt psu in 1040b case, full install Win98SE from OEM disc.

Maybe my overclock has just ran out of steam.

Thanks!

actually the limit is 2.1ghz, and its only on some early Win98 versions.
its a NDIS file error. easily fixable with an updated ndis.vxd.

Thanks for the info. BTW, I slapped the sh!t out of my friend and told him to shut up. After much interrogation he produced the article from which he had deduced this to be my problem. It clearly stated that the issue was with first run copies of the Win98 os only. Not SE.

I did drink all his beer and borrow his new Pink Floyd box set (which wasn't even opened yet) afterwards. He has paid enough i think. 😀
