1.65V versus 1.5V memory on MSI 880G-E45

I have a couple of MSI 880G-E45 boards and the MSI specs indicate 1.5V memory. I got in on a good deal on 1.65V memory today and am wondering if it will be stable or not. Not looking to overclock or do anything fancy. Anyone have this motherboard or have experience with this issue?

No idea but memory is memory for the most part. With that said, I believe 1.65v memory is not "technically" within spec. I would guess it would be fine though.

With that said, I am a firm believer in not purchasing/using DDR3 memory over 1.5v. There is just no reason to have memory that uses 1.65v imo. 1.5v memory costs the same so why bother. I guess you got a good deal and thats fine. I am sure there are no issues with it but I personally wouldnt want to run 1.65v memory.

I run the g.skill low volt 1.25v memory myself to help save on heat/power consumption. I dont even run 1.5v memory. 😛

^^ What he said -- RAM voltage has been coming down for some time and it seems that 1.65's time is nearly over.

I have some really good 2.5v 512MB DDR1 chips if you want, get you a good deal too! 😉
