1.6 P4 and 1700+ amd cpu's. when should i upgrade?

I'm currently running what are now, low end processors but to be honest i'm perfectly content with them. will i see much of an improvement going to the higher end cpus now?? or would it be better to wait for the hammer?
 
if i was in your current position i too would be quite content
i would wait for hammer since it will be a new socket type, and then you could upgrade the mothrboard as well

for intel,have you tried to overclock it?
those were relatively well overclockers for the most part
 
im with ChampionAtTufshop on this one. i also have a 1700+ oced to 1600MHz. ill waittill the hammer comes out of possibily teh barton dont really know yet. i might grab a 2800 just to see what it can do. my mobo can take one with a bios update. and if i get a good line on one then ill get it. but i am really waitin for teh hammer. hopefully itll be what we all want it to be
