I have a Haswell-based Dell Optiplex 7020 i5 4590 min-tower that currently has 8GB (2x4GB) Micron DDR3L 1600 1.35v occupying a memory channel of 2 slots. I want to add RAM in the other two empty DIIM slots and the DDR3 I have is two Hynix DDR3
HMT325U6EFR8C rated at 1.5V and 12800U. Is it safe to have 1.35 DDRL in one channel of 2 slots while having 1.5v DDR3 in another channel. I know that 1.35V DDR3L is mandatary with Skylake, but I don’t know if that’s the case with Haswell?

I installed the 2 Hynix 4x2 DDR3 DIIMS and the computer is running without any problems and has 12GB (8x4 Micron and 4x2 Hynix) of DDR3 1600. I even ran the Windows memory diagnostic tool and no issues.

Windows memory diagnostic tools IMO is not very useful. I would do 2+ passes, ideally 4, of memtest86. If you can go 4 passes with no errors, you are usually good there.
