update: sorry my voodoo is actually AGP... so i have no old PCI cards to use

i just bought an asus mobo (cant remember off the top of my head what model) but its a socket 754 VIA chipset. (~kt800 iirc) anyway it specifically says only 1.5v video cards are to be used.

since this is a server machine, i was just planning on using an old voodoo3 AGP card i had lying around or maybe even a radeon 64 VIVO agp card thats also collecting dust around the house... i'm just not sure whether or not they fit the 1.5volt thing... can anyone plz elucidate me? thx! 🙂

Soooo, will i fry my voodoo3 agp or radeon64 agp if i try to run them in the +1.5V AGP slot?

thanks for any input!

If it has an agp port, they might be talking about the different AGP speeds and voltages. I think different agp ports have had voltages of 3.3v, 1.5v, and .8v in that order. I think I have that right. There's so much conflicting info on agp stuff I've read I'm not confortable giving an answer that appears I'm really confident 😉

agp article on 1.5v cards

Voodoo3 is 2xAGP 3.3v, so I will probably fry your mobo. IIRC some of the Voodoo 4X cards used 3.3v as well, but I can't recall the details. Check this out for card ID.
