Not a myth......just you got lucky. It is/was a known problem. I had one that wasn't a myth, but the second replacement has been great!

Firmware was a January problem. The units shipping all have updated firmware.

I have one of these in my WHS and it's been terrific.

I need to replace a bunch of mine. Of the 10 I bought, 9 have >1 reallocated sector. Some drives have more than 80 reallocated sectors, one has more than 170. I have no idea what the max reallocated sector count is, but I have to be pretty close. All are CC* firmware.

My NAS reports them, so the OS I suppose.
