1.585Ghz @ 144fsb and 1585 @ 151 fsb = 4 -5c difference?! WTF?

I'm lost. I've got a sk6 and I'm getting all these record breaking temperatures. 🙁 I'm hitting a 57c using 1.8v. 🙁

You have an AMD... what do you expect? Hahaha... no seriously ... probably not enough fans?... your HS is only as good as your case cooling. Im running on 2v on a p3... and i used to get 52-55 on a really quiet and inadequate heatsink... i put on an SK6 and its down to 43-44... not bad. BTW...4 fans in my case.

<< Whoa... in that case... (no pun intended)... thats pretty scary. What kind of fan is on the SK6? >>

Did I not put it? Oh well, a YSTECH 28Cfm. I pulled it from my old FOP32. Even my FOP32 cools the same as this POS! :|

as good as teh SK6 is, the installation can be finicky.... the clip may either be backwards, or the lip of hte sk6 may be catching the plastic socket-A lip.... either case would be detrimental to your cooling.

Anyways, what motherboard are you using, and what is your system/motherboard/ambient temp?

Mike

Hey since u have so many fans anyway... might as well get a faster fan on the SK6. 😀 I looked it up and average temps seems to be 47c- 50c... why dont u try reapplying the HS...?

Man, I was waiting for you. 😀 I'm using a A7v266E. I noticed that my temperature reads differently from my A7V133. My temps used to be 51c on the sk6 and went on from 53c to the new board.

I've checked and reapplied everything. The clip is where it should be. AS applied properly and contact is made between the HS and core. Does applying too much AS hurt??

Mother board temps are 31c as of now. Ambient?? As in room temp?? How do I get that?? 😀 Maybe around 25c to 26c.

MuAhAa.....opened the window and took a big ass fan to blow air from outside into the room. It's at 50c now. 😀

Out side is at -5c I think. 😀

A couple of things:

The SK6 may not be performing optimally with the YS.Tech fan. That may be why your FOP32 temps are the same.

In general, if your system is stable, your temps are within "normal" operating margins on an A7v266E.

LOL...i dont think you can live like that for long. 😀

When do I start panicking??? Is it that all Asus mobos report 10c above the rated temp??

no, the asus does not report 10C "higher than actual" as the internet urban myth has become... That's a false statement. A correct statement would be that the Asus reads higher than other motherboards, but often times reads closer to the Actual DIE temp of the CPU. As seen at the voidyourwarranty.net internal diode tests (and they are the best internal diode tests), even Asus motherboards often under-read die temp.

That being said, keep the Load temp within 35C over the case/mb temp and you should be okay.

Mike

Hey, Man.
Use the stuff in their spec, you won't have to worry about the temp.😉
No more than 151mhz FSB?

LOL, I'll try to keep it within specs but my hands are itching to o/c it. 😀

No more than 151fsb?? Not too sure about which of the component is causing problems beyond 152Mhz. 🙁

<< How did you adjust the voltage?? How can you get it at 42.5c when your fan is running at 234rpm?! :Q >>

normally, fans are powered by yellow and black wires (dont use th mobo header, use a 4 pin molex). if you move to yellow/red instead of yellow/black, you'll run between the 5V and 12V rails, giving you 7V. a lot of fans dont turn at all with just 5V, but work great at 7V.

regarding low rpms: use bigger fans. I moved to 120mm fans (2 of them, on 7V) and that keeps my system totally cool and nearly silent all the time (the PSU and graphics card share a 120, the cpu gets the other)

You really should use a more powerful fan with the SK6, since its made of copper. Copper Heatsinks need more airflow to rid themselves of the heat than aluminum coolers do. You're probably gonna have to get a 7k delta screamer to get the job done

As of now, I'm trying to not go through with the delta screame and my GF would kick me out of the room. 😀

Bluesky, I've not flashed to a newer BIOS. Isin't the BIOS already the latest?? Oh well, I'll try tonight.

I tried 160FSB today. Looks like the VGA card cannot take it. 😀
