I just got my bill for the summer semester. I need to take 2 summer classes so I can graduate in the fall, and if I don't take these 2 classes I'm looking at a spring 2005 graduation. :( Well I got my bill the other day and DAMN!! $1,500 for 2 classes but I guess I should have expected it. Maybe I can pay half now and pay the rest by the summer. This sucks as I usually get financial aid. Plus I live on my own so I have rent, electric, car payment, etc...

BTW, is it free to go to college in Europe? What about California?

Jesus.. By the time you graduate you could have bought a house! I hope to god that they get college tuition under control or else only the rich are going to be able to afford the cost.

$750 per credit? That's like $2000-$3000 per course. That doesn't make sense at all, you have to be wrong on something. That's like $12000 a semester?

Maybe $750 per COURSE which sounds about right, that puts you at $3000 for a semester with 4 courses.

$750 per course is only about $6000 per year which is pretty cheap, even among state schools. Private schools pay considerably more than that.

In Hungary, education till the first diploma is free (unless you go to private schools). Of course you have to pay for the additional costs, books, etc.

Universities/Colleges:
There are state-funded (free) and not free courses. In case you have to pay (you needed a 2nd diploma, you couldn't get into any free courses, or wanted a non-free one), the costs are ~500-2000$+ per semester. 2 semesters = 1 year.

This might sound cheap, but it isn't.
Salaries are a lot lower than in the US. Minimum wage = ~250$, minimum wage for people with a diploma (teachers, doctors, etc.) = ~$480 per month, for 40 hours of work every week. According to the press, the average monthly salary is 600$.
Things also cost more than in the neighboring countries.
