This new 8K7A bios with a 1/5 PCI divisor is pretty amazing. I am running 185FSB right now!! Not too shabby for ~$45 Crucial DDR....:)

I have no hint of instability yet, so I am off to try for 190..:Q

Where do you set that? I haven't seen a setting for anything beyond FSB adjustments.

It kicks in @ 166mhz... (166/5=33)

I'm @ 187FSB now...I'll be back with a report...

One weird thing I have noticed is that my memory benches have started to go down over 185FSB...with the same memory settings. Maybe the DDR is encountering a lot of "noise" @ these speeds...

Yup...1.2ghz Palo. I am typing this right now @ 190FSB!! Here's a screenshot...

190mhz FSB

I'm almost afraid to go further...is 200 possible??

I always thought that on AMD boards, the memory bus and system bus were independent. Is your memory really running at 190, or just the fsb?

If his memory can run at 190mhz, I want to know where I can get some of it.

holy sh!t.

do me a favor, run something that tests your stability, i wanna see how much (if any) errors that fsb is causing...

Ok, I was able to get into Windows @ 195FSB with the least agressive memory settings, but it was not entirely stable. I think my GF DDR is holding me back. The Epox uses a 1/5 PCI divisor, but I believe the AGP bus still uses 1/2. I had lockups, but they seemed to be graphics related, not memory. I was even able to get into Windows @ 200FSB, but it would crash within a minute or two. Here is an updated link with a WCPUID screenshot @ 195FSB...:)

195mhz FSB

BTW - I am back to 171FSB with the more agressive memory settings...better scores than 180+ with the less agressive settings. The memory is two 256mb sticks of plain old ~$45 Crucial DDR...

Now...when is that damn PC2700 stuff coming out?!?!?

This would imply that the main roadblock to stable high O/C is the hard drive on the PCI bus (which is connected to the AGP bus) running out of spec.
At 190 FSB with a fourth divisor the bus is 47.5, but with fifth it is 38, still overspec, but not by much.
All the liquid nitrogen guys use the HDD in lowest PIO mode to boot at crazy O/C speeds.
What would be a dream is a board that auto compensated for FSB in both PCI and AGP at ANY setting to keep them right at spec.

On the other hand, you may have lucked onto a super RAM stick.

Edit: Try everything PIO mode 4 in BIOS @200FSB

I am running an AMD761 based DDR motherboard, and when you have the FSB set to 133 on it, your memory can only run syncronus with the FSB...

I run my DDR at the max all the time...2.9V. It barely gets warm... I am going to throw on a 55mm Alpha HSF with a 20CFM 50mm fan on the Northbridge this weekend and see if it makes a difference.. :)

How about your CPU voltage? I'm scared to put mine up too high on my 800E lol damn stock cooling! I could use an I/O voltage adjuster on my mobo though.. this new POS ram I got (Spectek 256m CAS2 PC133) will let me post @ 126fsb (1008mhz) but it won't do 105fsb (137 RAM) CAS3...I knew I should of been patient and ordered Crucial instead of going local!! :(

Heh, keep in mind 100mhz is damn high for any AGP Graphics to be running. You should try an old PCI card since it wouldn't be running much above spec even @ 200fsb...it'd narrow down where the problem lays.

CPU voltage is @ 1.95v, but it's a completly different kind of CPU from the P3. The Athlon 4 runs alot cooler than Thunderbirds, and I have good cooling...:)

I would, but I don't have access to a PCI vid card...:(

Sorry if the pic is taking forever to load...I think Angelfire is limiting the bandwith...:(

You should contact Epox and have them make you a Bios with a 2/5 AGP divider... :) It doesn't surprise me that the Pally can go that high, the EV6 bus is good for that. (I think it's suppose to theoretically max out at 200 DDR, but I'm not sure)
What's amazing is that 45$ piece of ram getting that high, DAMM!!!

hehe, someone send this man an old cheapo 2MB PCI vid card, WE WANT 400 MHZ!!! :D
