1.4 t-bird VS. XP 1600+???

I don't know about you guys but I would sure like to see some benchmark tests against the AMD t-bird 1.4 ghz and maybe say... the XP 1600+ . I know there are some benches out there for each single CPU, but did they compare each other? I haven't really looked around- was wondering if anyone had some comments, insight, or thoughts about it.

I just got the AMD XP 1700+ and my friend says he just got the AMD t-bird 1.4ghz, and could just as easly keep up with me, take that in for thought.

Largely depends on the app. The XP added SSE extentions, and if these aren't used then the speed diff drops quite a bit (potentially to him being faster). If it does use these than the diff increases.

unless you're going to discuss the difference in architectures, then this post is off topic here. as are many threads...

this article dating back to october of 2001 contains some benchmarks the 1.4GB classic athlon loses to the 1700+, and even the slower clocked 1500+ in most of the tests.

You will not see any difference through usage unless you time processes. those milliseconds add up =\
