I'm looking to upgrade my current fosil of a system to a 1.4 T-Bird, but I'm a little confused?! I want the best and from what I've been reading that would be the AYHJA stepping with a serial# starting with the letter "Y"...is this true?? Also are all the 1.4 T-Birds based on the AYHJA stepping or is there something worse to watch out for when shopping for my new cpu??? One more thing... I read somewhere yesterday about a new stepping AYHJAR... has anyone seen any reviews on it??? and if its the one to buy , where can I get one???

Get a 1.4 from newegg.com...it'll be cheap and you'll most definately end up with a AYHJA. Try to not focus on the AYHJAR reports...OCz and athlonoc.com are a bunch of liars trying to make a buck that's all. Their information is misleading...

I would also like this info.
Does amd have a list of cpus and their stepping like intel?
I went to the amd site but could not seem to locate one.
Also is there any difference with reatil and oem amd cpu's performance wise?

First of all, i don't buy retail because i don't ever plan on having a chip for more then a year. And i've heard from many ppl here around the forums that OEM chips OC better...so i guess in a sense you can say that they do perform better. Plus, with the money you save from going OEM, you can get yourself a decent HSF...like a sk-6 or taisol or global win cak. If you are worried about warranty, i recommend that you build your system early and if anything goes wrong, most vendors will have a 7-30 warranty (varies by vendor) on the chips. So just build your system soon after you receive everything. Once again, i highly recommend newegg.com and grabbing their 1.4's. From what i know, AMD does not having a steppings chart...but the 1.4 ayhja is a very good chip. Most 1.4's if not all come AYHJA anyways. Disregard any info from ocz and athlonoc.com...their numbers are misleading and WRONG.

Thanks alot.
Amd only started making the 1.4's in late june so I doubt there could be more than 1 or 2 steppings.
