Hi I have this ram:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231735

and this motherboard:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...cm_re=asrock_h97m_pro4-_-13-157-512-_-Product

The ram says it is rated at 1.35v but the motherboard runs it at auto at 1.585v. Should I manually set it to 1.35 or leave it at auto? The motherboard says it supports DDR3L but I thought that was a sodimm thing? At least that's what google says. I'm running an intel burn test at maximum which uses most of my ram to see if it's stable at 1.35v unless there are any other tests to run?

Set the voltage manually to 1.35 volts.
My crucial has a 1.5v xmp and a 1.35v xmp profiles but I still set it manually to 1.35v.

My motherboard supposedly supports xmp but it doesn't seem like I can enable it. Does the ram also have to be xmp compatible to worK?

edit: ya looks like that ram doesn't have any mention of xmp

edit2: It doesn't look like it matters that I ran it at 1.5v for awhile? or does it?

If it only has JEDEC profiles, they should max out at 1.5V, so 1.585V is weird.

Not if your using ASRocks lower price boards.

My ASRock x58 board all so has strange setting of 1.564v default.
I set it to 1.489v which ran good until I populated all of the dimms.
After a few weeks of use I was able to go back to the 1.489v.

My main rig's board was $60 :), and as far as I've seen, aside from the lack of RAID setup, has practically identical firmware UI and options to the OP's (B85M Pro4). Something is definitely off, that's for sure. I don't think I've encountered any RAM within the last 3+ years, however, that lacked XMP, in a build.
