Motherboard:Asus A7v133

radio shack heat sink compound

This my problem
when I try to run at 1.33 my systems become unstable. It will lockup, my registry get corrupted. I reach temp of 155f
I'm running right now underclock at about 1.25Ghz temp at 150f and everything seems fine. I tried to overclock to 1.4(10.5x142), BIOS will reconginize the speed, but i can't boot into windows
I heard this type of chip was easy to overclock

You've definitely got a heat problem - 155 F. = 68 C. That's way too hot for just a bootup.

You mentioned "radio shack heat sink compound". I'm assuming you mean heat sink plus compound. I didn't know that radio shack made either.

Anyway, I'd suggest getting another heat sink and using some other compound.

You need better cooling for sure - what does you BIOS report your voltage as?

Aurora69, at 152 F. or 67 C., it's running too hot. Replace that heatsink as soon as you can.

This is serious enough that you should not be running that 1.33 at all, until you get a proper cooler. Also, if the heatsink you have came with a TIM (Thermal Interface Material), you can't run thermal paste under it. You must either run just the TIM, or just paste, but not both. You will be replacing a dead bird if you do not get this corrected.

Absolutely! Don't take any chances.

Thanks, you both are right. i back it down to 900mhz(10x90) it seem to be holding at 126f underload. I'm going to replace it as soon as possible. At first i thought maybe the PCI graghic card was causing the crashes. I know I need to up grade to AGP card. Something else that is strange is the case fan. When I go into BIOS and check the hardware monitoring case is stating "N/A" then after about 5 sec it pops up with the RPM of the fan. Windows won't pick it up at all. I've even up grade to the lastest ver. of asus utility probe. Any ideas? I've even tried other hardware monitoring software. No luck. Just MB And cpu temp.
