I have an amd 1.33 t-bird in an iwill kk266-a board. The board isnt working properly. I have to underclock it in order for it to run stable. What board would be a good replacement for this current chip but also be able to be used with an upgraded chip?

Do nf2 boards run old t-birds?

thanks and sorry if its a stupid question.

yes the NF2 mobos will run your 1.3 T-bird. Just decide what features you need and check around on this forum for recommendations.

for a real OC champ with all the bells and whisles the Abit NF7S, Asus A7N8X are good, for a good OC board with less features the Shuttle AN35 Ultra is a good buy.

Nforce2 board, definately. Ran and overclocked a Tbird 1GHz in my Asus A7N8X Deluxe before I upgraded to a Barton. :)

I don't recall seeing any NF2 boards that will use pc133.

time for some DDR, pc2700 at least and if possible get pc3200.

Doh!

Sell the PC133 RAM if you're going to upgrade the motherboard to an nforce2 board. If you have Fry's nearby, look for a combo special that has both cpu and the motherboard for a cheap price. Otherwise, you need to upgrade the RAM to DDR if you want to use an nforce2 board.
