I've been reading about the production dates on various forums
and web sites.I know that in week 19 AMD made both the AXIA's
and the AYHJA's in the 1.3Ghz chip.
Was wondering what the deal is there? Why the made two differant
chips during the same week. Why not AXIA's like we've been seeing
in week 19,and the AYHJA's in week 20.
There must be something really differant between them I suppose,to
change the stamping?
Just wondering if anyone else has thought about this.

ahh danielson. AMD has more than one FAB. Thus they can make different chips at each one.

aaahh davegod75, only Dresden is doing the copper interconnect process chips of which all of the 266mhz "thunderbird" chips are and the vast majority of the 200mhz "thunderbird" chips are now. Starting with the 1g "thunderbird" chips just about all production was moved over to Dresden. Austin is concentrating on the Duron core and other logic chips at this time but still does produce "thunderbirds" in the lower speed ranges. AMD has stated repeatedly that only the higher performance chips will be made in Dresden. The difference in having the same week but different codes is the final flushing of the previous "AX" wafers through the manufacturing process before being sent to the assembly operations in Malaysia.
