Hello everyone,

I currently have access to a p4 1.3 gzh wish 256 megs of pc800 ram, that my bro gave me permission to run a program on. I figured why not run SETi for someone who'll give me about the same amount of CPU power for RC5, cuz p4's suck at rc5. Anybody out there?


Also, can anyone guide me into setting up SETI if this trade goes through?
 
My TBird@1500 does 5,2 MKeys in RC5 and does a WU in about 4:45. How long does you P4 take for a WU?
 
I just installed the CLI so it's fresh in my mind.

First get SETI Driver and then put the SETI CLI in the same folder.
Then run SETI Driver and set the proxy server Host WWW.orangekid.teamanandtech.com Port 5001 (use colon should be checked) and it will find SETI CLI and help you set it up.
Then install the shutdown thing that is on the SETI Driver web page.
Reboot.
Install SETI SPY and SETI Watch to the same folder.
check Create SETILog.csv in SETI DRIVER and it will make this for SETI Watch after it does a work unit.
 
I would think the 1.3 GHz P4 would be 5-6 hours/WU, but I dunno. Anyone here with a TBird 1 GHz or so? That might be a good trade.
 
I'm setting it up in a few minutes, is there a benchmark i can do or something? or do i just have to let it run and see how fast it'l complete a WU?

I'd say a 1.3Ghz P4 would do WU's in about 5:15-5:30. Probably about equal to an Athlon 1.2-1.33Ghz. The advantage is all in the 3.2Gbps memory bandwith/FSB.
 
Finish it, predicted wu times are always wrong at the beginning an end.
Something seems foul there though...

I don't know what you are using to measure the completed time but if it is SETIDriver or SETISpy don't take any notice of the WU Time until at least 50% of the WU is done.

1 thing ,you aren't running the screen saver version with the graphics showing all the time are you?
 
No, that's too slow. Do you have a screen saver other than SETI running? Or do you have some other programs taking up CPU time?
 
I don't think so, Taskinfo's showin SETI's takin up 97% CPU time

It just finished, 8 hours for a WU,

it's 8% into a new one at 20 mintues
 
hmm ,maybe you had a VLAR WU (a slow WU)?
If you check the SETIDriver log & look for a line with Angle Range in it,I can't remember exactly where the cut off point is but I think its 0.2 ,if its lower than that then you had a Very Low Angle WU which can be up to 50% slower than normal ones.
