If your system is stable then its probably ok. I can't say for sure though because CPU temp readings are a product of system temp (which is lowered by proper case airflow) and inaccuracy of socket thermistors. With the make of your mobo and your system temp, someone could give you a better idea if your heatsink application needs to be re-done.

The CPU should be stable and healthy at 52C (125F).

However, Overclockers reviewed the Glaciator with a 1.33 Tbird and got 33.9C (with 23C ambient temperature), so it sounds like something is wrong with your setup. Either the heat sink-CPU interface isn't solid, or the fan is underperforming for some reason. Or it could be that the environment around the CPU is just too hot due to your case, other components, etc.

Generally 10C over your case Ambient with a Glaciator II in a stock configuration is what I get on a 1.3.

Good case flow with a well ventilated socket. Poor case flow will set up a sort of a closed loop where the hot air keeps recirculating through the sink pushing the delta higher. I had a 20C rise on one of my systems.

Added a couple of case fans and my temps dropped 10C.

Open your case and blow a desk fan at the board. If the temps drop 10-20C you know it is a xcase flow problem.

One sink I had a problem with had a marginally loose clip. I put a shim(piece of wood) between the clip and sink added a few pounds pressure and fixed the problem.

what is your case temp?

My system temp is about 32C when my CPU is 49C after a 10min break following some extended Unreal Tournament play.

case temp is a little high most people run 2-3 C above ambient 22-24C might be an average temp for this time of year. The 17C delta at idle looks to high. with a G2 you should be no more than 9 -11 C above the case temp at full load.

Again open your case and throw a fan on it- it will tell you if you have an airflow problem.

Lay the case on it's side so the heat sink is resting with the weight on the CPU- this will tell you if you have a clip problem.

although my guess from the high case temps there is not enough airflow. good case flow is a must for any system

huh ??? just make sure your exhaust is greater than you input. my server has two 80's in the back(exhaust), and no fans in the front. sucks like crazy and has been up for ever.....w/o problems....1ghz b'rd, temp @28c.,load @37. your temp is ok....but a little on the high side, be careful. you could also lap your h.s., i always do mine, and i'm always amazed at how uneven they are, out of the box. 600 grit sandpaper will do the trick.
