1.2mp athlons 194.00 at united distribution!!!

ummm....shouldnt this be in the hot deals forum??? im guessing that this is a good price...i really havent been looking at the prices for palominos

Possibly but I don't like those guys (joke)...I was asking a question on the retailer done many times in this forum...

Its more of a suspicious shock...to good to be true considering next retailer is like 30 bucks different...

If you go to the actual site you'll see that the site is actually called altima solutions, the chip is really $224, and out of stock. Maybe they meant to post that price for the 1GHz MP?

EDIT: Yep, looking at their site, the AthlonMP 1GHz is 194.99- it was an error on pricewatch.

altima has been talked about quite a bit on hot deals. they beat everyone else by 20-30 on the ibm hdd's. some of the stories on resellr are hideous. theyre obviously a no inventory boiler room and are part of the pricewatch crowd that pay them to advert their stuff.
people theorize the ibm's are "pulls" from upgraded big names. Personally i only have so much tolerance left for aggravation, and simply wont test these dogs.

Duvie:

I would highly suggest you check out Monarch Computers. They are not the cheapest on the MP's, but they are the only dealer that offers a 3 year warranty on the MP OEM chips.

"I just got a 1.3ghz/266 retail and a Epox 8kta3 board for $229 @ Frys so this looks like a ripoff."

I think you are confusing the Palomino/MP CPU with a regular Thunderbird. $194 is a good price for the Athlon MP...
