http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/07/htcs-dual-mode-cdma-gsm-android-slider-with-1-2ghz-cpu-headed/

It's not expected to land at Verizon until sometime in 2011, but it's never too early to take a look at an unannounced Android slider with specs like this. Leaked by Androidswag, the device is purportedly hiding a 1.2GHz processor (would that be dual-core?) beneath that 4-inch display -- the sweet spot for size and pocketability. The prototype pictured above was apparently sporting a Vodafone SIM card making this a pretty bodacious CDMA / GSM worldphone by the time it lands for retail. Of course, anything, or everything, could change by the time this pup is ready for launch and we'll be here covering every step of its journey. Two more shots after the break including a size comparison with the EVO 4G -- a few more at the source link below.

I wonder how do they keep it cooled, if its dual core (possible) it would create some heat.

If this thing ended up supporting 3G GSM bands, I may finally switch over from AT&T.

I don't think it's going to be anything particularly special. Sure, it sounds exciting now but it's not going to be released next year. Just like now with snapdragon, this will be pretty standard fair next year with the exception of the keyboard. When the EVO, Incredible, and Galaxies are refreshed they will all be sporting similar specs. The keyboard makes it standout a bit more with only the Droid and Epic also sporting high end specs with a keyboard. Speaking of the Droid, it is kind of odd they are going to carry both unless their is not going to be a Droid 3.

If it's not dual core, 1.2 looks slow already. The next major HTC and Samsung releases are rumored to be 2ghz...

Are we ever going to see Tegra2?

Motorola's CEO claimed they were going to launch a 2Ghz Tegra 2 phone in 2010, but it'll likely have a locked bootloader, so be a nonstarter.

1.2Ghz may not be as slow as you think though, depends on the CPU architecture. There's a big difference in performance between the 528Mhz Qualcomm chips in the GT1 and Hero and the 550Mhz Cortex A8s in the Moto Droid, 3GS, and Pre. And the OMAP3640 in the Droid X and Hummingbird in the Galaxy S phones both run at 1Ghz and easily defeat the 1Ghz Snapdragons.

Yeah, we're getting close to the kind of CPU races that made netbooks seem practical.

I'd much rather see the manufacturers, Google & the chipset manuf focus on battery life now.

Today I saw a new kernel for the HD2 Android that supports undervolting! When it gets into an Android build, it's going to give better battery life. Can't wait!

An Australian article (too lazy to google it sorry lol) recently quoted a senior Google rep as stating that they have battery optimization as a priority for future releases.
