so i just pulled this chip from my sisters computer and dropped it in mine. my motherboard defaulted it at 900mhz and any attempt to raise it causes a hang. any thoughts?

yes, it was running at 1200mhz before i pulled it.

Does you motherboard have jumpers? Placing a native 133 FSB processor into a motherboard with a jumper set at 100 gets you 900

133 x 9 = 1200
100 x 9 = 900

Look at the bios or motherboard and make sure the FSB is at 133 (and can support it)

Hmmmm. Did you check the motherboad for jumpers? I know my motherboad has jumpers that can manually change the FSB overiding the bios
Did you put the processor back into her system to make sure it still runs at 1200 thus isolating it the motherboard?

Did you flash to the latest bios making sure the BIOS is recognizing the cpu microcode?

you must be missing something. Try a jumper that gets the FSB to 133Mhz. Your motherboard does support the processor. Check in the Advanced Chipset Features tab on the BIOS.
