1.2ghz amd at 900mhz on kt7a when optimal settings in bios selected?

when I got to the bios settings in the kt7a and select the option on the right that says "optimal bios settings" or something like that something weird happens. When checkin in the softmenu it has the cpu set back to 100x9=900mz. I bought this "1.2 ghz" from a retailer. Have I been ripped off? Is my chip just a 900mhz thunderbird overclocked, yet sold as a 1.2ghz chip?
