1.2 GhzThunderbird, will it run at 133mhz in an ABIT KT7-RAID MB?

I am going to be building me a new system and I think I have settled on the 1.2 thunderbird and the Abit-kt7 raid MB. I just bought pc133 cas2 ram and was wondering if the Athlon can run on a 133 bus? If so what do I need to do to get it working?

The Athlon can run on a 133mhz FSB, but not on a KT133 board like the KT7-RAID. The newer KT133A boards can run the CPU's at 133, but you will most likely need to unlock it and turn the multiplier down. The board you want is the KT7A-RAID. You will need to unlock the CPU and drop the multiplier from 12 to 9 and turn the FSB to 133...this will give you a 1.2ghz CPU running on a 133FSB. Good luck..

I was suprised when I realized my 1.2 T-bird had the golden bridges intact. Everyone I've heard from so far has reported the same thing. I don't know if AMD is willing to concede the extra .5 multiplier or were simply looking ahead and provided us with a means to transition the 1.2 T-bird to the upcoming 133A equipped boards. Providing you pick a board with multiplier adjustments you should be good to go.

I didn't see on ABIT's website that they made a KT7A-RAID...do they make one, and if not, what board should I use? THanks for the reply

Yes, I have full multiplier control. The L1 bridges were totally intact. Sorry I can't provide any markings. I looked at them with a magnifying glass to verify it was a 1.2 then slapped that puppy in the hole. I got it from Monarch Computers who was one of the first to have them in stock and a great price too. Funny thing... I really couldn't figure out the die color. As I moved it, the color went from reddish gold to a slight green tint.

Whoa... careful - there is two types of 1.2GHz Tbird, a 100MHz (200 DDR)version, and a 133MHz (266 DDR) version. You need a 266DDR version to run a 133MHz FSB. Insane3D is right in saying you need a KT133A, AMD760 or ALiMagik board though

I am running a 200 DDR 1100 T-Bird underclocked to 800 just fine at a 145 FSB (290.39 DDR) I have also tried out two 900's with similar results.

Incorrect. The newer 266FSB Tbirds are exactly the same as the 200FSB ones, they are just set at the FAB to run at 133mhz. If you have a KT133A board, you can run a 200FSB Tbird at 133, but you usually need to lower the multiplier...

Also, the newer 266FSB Tbirds are not even for sale yet...
