1.2 Ghz T-Bird Overclocking

What is a better overclocker? The B or C core?

And idea what the top speeds are that can be realistically done by either? At which multiplier/bus combo?

Thanks!

I'd say the B core since it's been out for quite some time now which also means the yields are better.

The C core has more multiplier headroom, which most likely means more potential. 1200 is already pretty high, so you'll have to take either fore in .5 multiplier steps and 1Mhz FSB steps either way. Telling the B core to go from 12 * 100 to 12 * 133 is pretty drastic, so you'd have to lower the multiplier a lot, that's 12 Mhz for every 1 FSB increase, as opposed to 9 Mhz for the C core.

Either way, have really good memory to be able to handle the high FSB frequency, plus a good overclocker like the Iwill-KK266 would be your best bet.

Just unlock the multiplier (if it is not already from the factory).

You can run the 1200(200) at 9x133 then, for example.

The B cores supposedly overclock better. I would just stick with the B core because it is cheaper. I would go for like maybe at least 10 multiplier and 140 or 145. It should be able to do it.

Thats a semi bold statement 🙂 (10x 140 or 145, it should be able to do it) Not all the chips will O/C that well, sure some will hit 1400-1500 with water cooling and all, but with a good heatsink I would say 1300-1350 whould be easy.
