here's the new equation, and it works allot better IMHO, and yes, i am bored at work
simply take your age and multiply by .88, or if you want to figure out your dating max age, take your age and multiply by 1.12

below are some examples, i think they work pretty well

your age min max min age max age
21 0.88 1.12 18.48 23.52
54 0.88 1.12 47.52 60.48
37 0.88 1.12 32.56 41.44
23 0.88 1.12 20.24 25.76
17 0.88 1.12 14.96 19.04

teh 1/2 + 7 means that a 60 year old can date a 37 year old. not ok in my book unless your a perverted old woman/man

it works. the old man scenario is a perfect fit for the trophy wife situation, which does happen frequently

IMO the .5 + 7 is totally legit

Ditto.

Why can't a 54 year old date someone who is 61?

1/2+7 is a minimum. 61/2+3>54 so the "rule" allows for this.

The example of a 60 year old dating a 37 year old isn't bad. I mean at 37 you can pretty much make up your own mind on who you want to date. This rule is really geared towards the younger end of the scale and works OK.

0.88 and 1.12 don't work, FYI.
It should be 0.88 and ~1.14 (1.1363636...)

You lose at maths and life OP.

And 60/37 isn't perverted. You just lose yet again.

and how is 60 and 37 not perverted? how could you date someone old enough to be your mom?

Naw, I'm 27 and I'll go out with 18 year olds :) Although there isn't much I can do with them except for a few activities. Prefer 21 at least. Also, I'm trying to NOT have to worry about 30 year olds until I hit 29 or 30. Then I might go there. The problem is... women drop of fast after 30. Not all, no, but for the majority of women it's all downhill. 40 is really bad....

I think you misinterpreted me. The 1/2 + 7 rule allows for it, and it should be allowed.

GhettoPeanut's rule forbids it (numbers below are from the original post and rounded to the nearest year).

Your age: 54.
Minimum age: 48.
Maximum age: 60.

I had a whole thread on my version of the rule. I can't find it though. :frown:

and the same doesn't apply for men? i fail to see the logic. it seems like the rule is:

men want super young girls. i 25 and i'd like to bang the hell out of an 18 year old, but it seems just a little wrong to date someone that young.

The way I see it is that people should always go with people close to the same age as possible.

<18, +/- 2 years tops.

Over 18, I'd say that you really shouldn't be dating anyone under 17, and never more than 3 or 4 years older.

In Texas we get to fvck 17 year olds. Funny how if they go over to your state, they become "children"!

Indeed, my thoughts. I'd not be here if that were the case. My mother is 5 years older than my father and they started dating right about that age.

Actually, in Vermont the age of consent is 16 so its the other way around.
