1-2-3 Inning

Where can I find a "definition" of a 1-2-3 inning. Me and a friend got into a argument over the definition.

His definition: 3 Batters, 3 outs. Meaning if the first person gets a basehit, and the 2nd batter hits into a double play with the 3rd batter getting out, it's a 1-2-3 inning.

My definition: 3 Batters, 3 outs. No one gets on base via a hit, walk, HBP, etc..

I am a baseball expert 🙂 You are absolutely correct. A 1-2-3 inning is when the first three batters are retired in order

Thats what I thought 🙂
I'll point him to this thread but does anyone know where I can find a "definition" online?
I've tried googling for it but can't bring up anything. I do get pages that use it alot but nothing that defines it.
