I finally hit 1,000,000 on my antiquated farm. Not a real bif deal with some of the crucners I know, but every credit was earned on PCs I built from spare parts so I cant complain. When I first started years ago in SETI Classic I thought it would be a big deal, but, oh well, Kepp on crunching.....

not everybody can build 19 quad core crunch boxes. We all do what we can, and you should be proud of what you've done.

Are you using the optimized seti apps? you should be getting a lot more credit out of that E2200 and x2 3800+ if you are.

You will need to download the latest boinc version and go to www.lunatics.kwsn.net for the optimized app. You want v 5.03. If you're running vista then let us know, it took me 30 minutes to find the right file the first time I did it, and 10 seconds with every other install!

Congratulations!
I concur with the others: One million cobblestones (sounds good, doesn't it?) is a very big deal. Especially on computers one has put together himself! :cookie:
It puts you in a special league. Not so many are there ... ;)
So: please feel welcome to the million-creds-home-built-crunchers! (McHbC). There are a few members here in TeAm AnandTech ... :D

I have 4 comps currently crunching SETI.

1) Pentium D 2.80GHz over clocked to 3.1 running BOINC 6.2.19 with AK_V8 SSE2. Running SSE3 seems to crash. THis comps has an average RAC of 915

2)Pentium Dual CPU E2200 @ 2.20GHz running the same but with the V8_SSE3 pumping a RAC of 500

3)AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+ Running BOINC 6.2.16 with the core SETI app 5.10 averaging 490 RAC. This machine is at an old job and stays this way cause A) I cant get to it and B) the rules put into place to let me crucnh on it.

4)Pentium 4 CPU 2.40GHz Running BOINC 6.2.19 ans V8 SSE2 averageing about 240 for RAC. This is the wife's PC and it's currently limited to 512m memory (old motherboard) and we're working on it but this is even more DONT TOUCH MY PC then the work one.

Nothing big, nothing fancy, alll with 10 day cache setups and very little intervention on my part.

I recently switched from the v8 on two of my rigs to the new astropulse v 5.03 and saw ~ 50% bump in output with no effort other than the aforementioned vista install issue (which was actually more due to my unfamiliarity with vista anyway). Your e2200 and x2 3800+ would probably see a similar jump from switching to v 5.03. We convinced smoke to post a sticky on alex khan's v8.0 port last year due to the phenomenal bump that many of us got in RAC with it, and the v 5.03 appears to offer a similar bump over 8.0 that 8.0 offered over vanilla seti with non-optimized apps. I don't know about many of the top users, but I do know that dajeepster is using 5.03 as well.

May you find a space signal soon! :p I might get back into seti after a crunch for primes for a year or so. We'll see. Congrats tho! :)
