the error message flashes at the top of a blue screen...it's too quick to completely read but i've caught part of it. it says something about the "driver_irq_not less or equal....and that's about all i've caught. This happens when i go to start either of my cd drives...any ideas???

sounds like you have "automatically reboot" checked. that's why you don't have time to read the blue screen. right click on "my computer" , go to properties...then go to advanced tab...then startup and recovery, and then uncheck "automatically reboot"

then maybe you can see the whole error message and report back. i've seen cd drives that cause blue screens before, and they're hard to troubleshoot. have your cd drives worked in the past? did you recently re-install them or anything?

k..will undo auto reboot!

The cd drives worked in the past no problem....I recently did a clean install of Win2k, was running ME....drives worked no prob for a while....can't really pinpoint when the trouble started!

You might want to try going into your BIOS and disabling UDMA mode on the IDE channel with your CD-ROMs connected. Also make sure you have SP2 installed. Finally I'd make sure you have the latest drivers for your motherboard chipset and onboard IDE. If you do all this and you still have the same problem, I might try swapping out the IDE cable and CD-ROM drives just to eliminate a hardware problem.

Hope one of these suggestions helps.

Do you have the Via 4in1's installed? Try un-installing those drivers and see what happens. This used to happen with my Plextor 16x burner, it would always BSOD then reboot after trying to put a cd in, or when I try to multi-task while burning a CD. Come to find out it's the Via 4in1 drivers.

***STOP: 0x0000001E (0xc0000095, 0x06880C49, 0x814F93B18, 0x0000000)

Pysical memory dump complete. Contact your system administrator or technical support.

That's what showed up this time....any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!

Went to Microsoft's websight and searched their knowledgebase....found out what the error message means, but now I need to know how to look up each of those addresses to see what they belong to (the addresses in parenthesis)!!! How is that done???

thanks again
