Nice, but I was kinda expecting something in the neighborhood of 2600 for the Winchester anyways, since I can already get 2500 with my Newcastle 3000+.

Here's a "should I upgrade now" question. I've had an Athlon XP1800 (palomino) a couple years. And I feel like upgrading. Should I upgrade this Christmas, or just wait til summer (I'm a student so those are the best times for me to upgrade). It looks like, if I wait til summer, there will be a very nice CPU market.

I am surprised that a 3000 can outperform the fx-53 so by so much. Thats like getting a 3 gigahertz p4 and overclocking it so it outperforms a 3.4 p4 EE by 10 percent.

wow... i cant believe those numbers... it even outperforms an FX53 ? so what is gonna happen to fx53 market?
I love it thoe... definitly made up my mind about goin 939 route instead of 754

any suggestions?

I'd wait and see what the nForce 4 brings. Hopefully the overclocking goodness of the NF2 series will carry over into their next big release. NVidia seems to do good on even-numbered releases (NF2, GF2, GF4, GF6) so I am hoping that the new motherboards will rock pretty hard.

Of course, I'd expect the boards to be rare and expensive until early 2005.

Early 2005 = S940 DC, late 2005 = S939 DC, I'm pretty sure AMD has confirmed this in their roadmaps.

I like the overclocking numbers and all. However, the thing that I find most interesting about the new cores is that there is now lower cost CPUs for Socket 939. This means there is a more viable upgrade path for those looking to get the best gaming performance available.

What do you mean Bovinicus?

And... how much can I expect prices to go down by the middle of 2005? (Summer). Summer's the most viable time for me to upgrade.
