I currently have an 04 Mazda 6, and am thinking of getting a new car, I want something a lil faster and better fuel economy woudnt hurt, the Monte Carlo is deff alot faster. Does anyone know the 1/4 mile time on the new camry? I coudnt really find anything. I called around about 5-6 dealerships and none of them had either of the cars to look at in V6 or V8 form.

Get prepared to be bashed for even thinking about a Monte Carlo. I for one like it with the V8. Wish it was RWD though.

No kidding... there shouldn't be any such thing as a FWD Monte.

There is no way in hell I would ever get a Monte Carlo. There is just NOTHING redeeming about the design or engineering.

The new Camry's look nice. If I can get a 4 banger with leather and navi for $20-$21k, i'd jump on it in a heartbeat...I think they're going for $24k right now though.

Maybe in a year :(

A V6 Camry is too expensive, in my opinion. Other cars start becoming options at that price range, maybe an Infiniti G35? Audi A3? A4? TSX?

between your two choices - i spring for the camry!

honestly, i wouldn't consider the camry at all, it drives like a boat. (previous gen, not like this gen is drastically different. :p)

The Honda Accord I think has a nicer interior, classier exterior and is sportier to drive.

But at that price range, other cars start becoming options.

You should start leasing car. You have a 2 year old car that's pretty decent and you want a newer car already.

monte carlo....hahahhaha! You best grow yerself a mullet, boy. And don't for get to stick some nascar numbers on the side, because we all know that it's the same car that runs in the ovals. Yaaaaaaaaaaahoooo!!!

Also monte carlo = FWD v8 in the ugliest packaging gm could come up with. That car is just plain fugly. Why the hell would anyone wanna drop 26K on that ugly pos is entirely beyond me.

Without reading the particulars about your situation, I predict ATOT will choose the Toyota

[Edit] Did I read correctly that you're trading in a two-year old car? :Q

...and I bet your Mazda6 is under warranty and totally dealer-maintained...if only I was in the market :(

[Edit 2] If a Mazda6 is bad enough to you that you're willing to take the big depreciation hit, a Camry certainly will not be the answer...A Monte Carlo answers it but there are better answers as well--namely in the ground-up sporty car segment.

Maybe you'd be better off looking at roadsters, sport compacts, or semi-lux sport sedans?

Monte Carlo vs. Camry?

I don't see how one can even compare these two cars, and quite frankly, taking into account your requirements, I don't see why you are looking at these models.

Both of those cars are going to be boring as all hell and, IIRC, come with automatics. Get the Monte Carlo and save your money or better yet, keep your 6. I'd take the 6 over either of those 2.

Woah, a recommendation from MIKEMIKE that doesn't involve an '07 Ta-ho? Hell has frozen over.

Really...how much better economy are your going to get? You'll take a $5,000 bath on your trade in. That's A LOT of gas you'll have to be saving...even at current prices.

Both cars he mentioned borrow extensively from the GM parts bin! Isn't the 9-2x just a WRX with GM's badge-whoring expertise thrown in?? :)
