I've seen many IDE controler / RAID cards based on the SIL 0680 chipset.
They all look alike.
Is it safe to say that they are all the same?
Most of those I've found are branded Syba.
I've found a few Silicon Image branded and one Creative branded.
One claimed to be limited to a max HD size of 160GB.
However the retailer didn't think that was true.
The others don't list a max.
One enduser review at newegg claimed he used it with a 200GB or 250GB.
Some claim striping while others don't.
Some state they allow use of different size HDs for RAID.
Some state RAID and non-RAID can be used with various HDs on the same card.
I believe they all allow use of the MOBO's onboard controler in addition to the add-on controler card.
I've found many retailers and recently a few with free shipping.
I'm just wondering if the free shipping ones are offering an older version chipset.
One retailer made it sound like you needed a special RAID cable.
Thanks
