05 outback needs some work. tips?

I will be replacing the front cv boots, doing the brakes on all 4 and a few other odds and ends.

any recs on brake pad brands? or boots? anyone done any work on an outback and have any specific tools or tips i will need?

I have not done a brake job in a years and have never worked on a Japanese car before. :whiste: I will order parts next week.
