dude its a no brainer, get the golf. Jettas are a dime a dozen. Fred'sTDi site is great. There are lots of cool mods for TDis especially MK4s. You'll love it. In Europe all you see is Golfs, Americans have hang ups about hatchbacks.

I was going to get a jetta, but decided agaisnt it...... because of one main thing, the timing chain isn't a chain, it is a belt..... that has to be replaced every 40k miles.... and if you don't and it breaks? there's about 1500 bucks downt he drain to replace all the bent valves and the good things that happen.....

Go for the Golf! Personally I would go for the new GTI VR6 coming out though!
