Anyone have one with a failed trans?

I googled and it seems like there are your normal posting about it. Every forum has the few with the bad trans or bad engine. A 02 civic might fall into my lap with a "bad trans" haven't drove it and seen it. Googled and found it worth maybe $4k with a working trans.

Most guys didn't post up results. But i figure if it does slip, i would try amsoil fluid. If that doesn't do much then maybe put a trans in it and use it as a beater.
 
I have seen 3 honda civics from that era have transmission issues. Luckily you can find those used cheap and the swap takes 20 minutes with two guys.
 
But that new trans should break in a matter of time too right... just like the accord/tl from 99-02. No fix from Honda just band aid.
