I dropped my 3 months old Panasonic digital camera. I dropped it in middle of the Circle K store and it hit the floor lens first(from later examination, I was drunk at the time)

Anyways, I took it apart. Plastic parts broken inside lens barrel. I'm just thinking about buying a new one and selling this one for parts.

Is it safe to assume that a damage like this to a $200 camera means more or less totaled?

Same thing happened with me with my Canon SD200.

Yeah it's going to cost you more to get it repaired than to buy a new one. But you can probably buy a broken one from ebay, and swap out the broken parts.

dropped my digital rebel, cost 160 bucks to fix whatever is in there that the flash card plugs into. of course that's on a 600 dollar camera, so it's worth it. yours, just junk it and get a new one. and buy a case.
