Hey all....

Went with my girl to the dealership as she is buying a new car. They're offering $0 down, No payments for up to 12 months, No interest for 12 months on New 2001/2002 vehicles. When I say "up to 12 months", this is basically dependent on your credit.

Anyhow, the interest rate is fairly high at the end of the 12 months, but you CAN simply find your own financing at that point, and refinance the money due.

Pretty hot deal for those looking to buy a Mitsu. www.mitsucars.com

The offer expires 10/31/01.

IMHO, Mitsu cars' quality is still lower than Honda or Toyota. I am not saying they will die on the road, but they do have many small issues that may annoy you.

The good thing is Mitsu has low price tag, even cheaper than American brand cars (all of them are made in USA anyway).

my wife and I purchased an 01 galant last year when it was 0 down and no payments for 6 months. so far we have been pretty happy with it. seems to have lots of recalls though; not sure if they have more recalls than other automakers.

My girlfriend purchased a new Eclipse this year (top of the line everything) and there were many issues that they had to fix:

A/C and heat blower fan went out
Sun visor material was torn (didn't notice at buying time)
Cargo cover separated from the bar it pivots on (bad glue job)

The worst is that this car has a pathetic turn radius. The radius is so bad that even on the widest of streets the car can not make a u-turn. I am by no means exxagerating and encourage anyone considering a Mitsubishi to be sure to do a u-turn in the test drive. In fact, this is the biggest complaint that reviewers and forum memebers have had. Too bad we didn't catch this one before the purchase. Since she is not to good with directions she get's pretty frustrated.

I'd have to agree on that turn radius thing. I own a '99 Galant and I've been pretty happy with it, but I've noticed I've had trouble adjusting to the turning radius, especially when parallel parking.

The worst problem I've had with this vehicle was a vibrating piece of plastic by the driver's side mirror (which was easily fixed once I explicitly pointed out what was wrong to the mechanic) and a squeaky break pedal, which is gone now.

The one feature i have to rave about is its passenger safety. I got into a bad accident a couple of months ago when a Crown Victoria smashed dead on into the passenger side of the doors. Despite the extensive damage to the car (yay for insurance!), nary a scratch was found on my girlfriend sitting in the passenger seat.

All in all, I'd recommend this car, espcially for the price.

Mitsu was offering this before 9/11. It's an ok Deal. I hope you plan on making payment... imagine where you'd be if your car was stolen or totaled 1yr from now and you didn't make any payments. You are only going to get replacement value for the vehicle which will have depreciated substantially and you'd still owe the full amount you paid. Thus, you will be major-upside down into the vehicle. Take advantage of the 0% and make payments!

Assuming that they do this like other 0/0/0 sales they have had in the past, this is not as good a deal as it might first appear.

You do get no payments for a year. However:

The interest rate in the past has been 9.9% after the free period. Haven't contacted a dealer to find out the rate this time though.
Any monies paid during the free period will not affect your payments once they start (would lessen the number of months you had to pay it though).
The total amount of time you can get the loan for (including the free period) is 5 years (so in this case 4 years of payments).

Of course, YMMV. No pun intended.

I suggest anyone interested contact their dealer for more info before getting too serious on this.
