As part of Amazon's Prime Day sales this week they have $0.99 Dash Buttons starting 7/12/17

If you are not into mindless consumerism at the push of a button you can hack these little gems as they contain a nice little STM32 microcontroller and WiFi Chip. Full reprogramming of the microcontroller is apparently possible: https://learn.adafruit.com/dash-hacking-bare-metal-stm32-programming/overview
Or you can just program the button to send a hello command to your network at let your other attached devices respond appropriately: http://www.dashbuttondudes.com/blog/2015/12/11/26-amazon-dash-button-hacks
You need an Amazon Prime account but you can get one free for 30 days. It's not a bad bit of electronics for under $1 especially when you consider how easily they can be hacked for other purposes.
