Can you elaborate a bit on the 'strip' and 'PIT' techniques?Originally posted by: 911paramedic
Well, that is not really the number you want to look at. I did the Sheriff's Dept. pursuit driving course a few times and it all comes down to how well you can handle corners (at high and low speeds) and your reaction speed.
I did our course many times (not as many as our ambulance courses) but it was great. If you try to outrun a police vehicle, forget it, trust me. We are fast and know how to disable your car. (it may be a strip, or a PIT maneuver) PIT stands for pursuit intervention technich by the way. Those were some of the best driving courses I ever took.

I would assume that the pursuit vehicle would have to be alongside or in front of the target vehicle.
And, no, I don't plan to outrun any Police Cruisers at my age, and in a Geo Metro!![]()

California Highway Patrol has some 380HP supercharged camaros, I hate the damn things so hard to see!

Well here in NC the state troopers just got liek 150-300 Camaro Z28's. They even have a bad A$$ paid scheme to them. Balck with a Silver strip/wedge on teh side that says state trooper.
And some places are moving to the Impala police cars. I think the 0-60 is faster than a Crown Vic and it also handles as well, BUT is cheaper and gets better gas mileage.
