I think the clear plan to pivot the campaign to "freedom" generally is pretty smart especially in this context. Republicans want to give you no choices and make your lives worse is a comprehensible argument to regular voters.
Freedom is a good motto too because it's abstract enough that median voters can fill it with whatever they want, if they're not particularly deep policy thinkers.

Exactly - this is why the whole Project 2025 thing was such a dumb idea. With limited exceptions you don't want to give specifics about what you'll do when in office. Specifics are easy to attack because in the real world there are always trade-offs. If you keep it vague you can pretend there aren't.

If I were conspiracy-minded, and we were not in this wacked timeline, I might suspect 2025 is a plant just to make Republicans look bad.

However, I'm not, and we are.... no conspiracy needed, I think spelling all their shitty plans out just shows how arrogant and bold they've become. "Who is going to do anything about it?" is how they think. Every line and norm that Trump stomps on, and every shitty decision their pet Supreme Court makes are big reasons for this attitude. They all see themselves as "warriors" (like Vance saying grab your muskets in the preface).

These people are also in their own little circles of "news" and like-mindedness--how many people "just couldn't believe Biden won, because everyone I know voted Trump!" Personally, I know WAY more Trump voters than Biden voters living where I do. I keep up with their horseshit to some extent, know your enemy and all that.

Vetting, anyone?
They got cocky. I mean they are always cocky but they got really cocky - they felt they could afford to double down on pure MAGA evil and not try to reach out to the electorate, because Biden was such a bad candidate, so they doubled down on shit, and now the whole script got flipped with Kamala, so that gamble with Vance? They lost the bet.

Crazy? She’s a sane conservative at this point.
:D I didn't even realize she is still around. Sane conservative sounds like an oxymoron to me. Maybe before the tea party?

Wait - I perused her Wikipedia page, and she went to some Jewish kibbutz or such as a kid, and she still mispronounced chutpah?

Yea you could say that. When America elected a black guy the GOP went off the rails.

She’s “sane” in the way that your crazy grandpa argues with the crazier grandpa at dinner

So this happened:

Project 2025 director steps down amid backlash from Trump

He stepped down from what? I thought project 2025 was a playbook... is he stepping down from writing dumb shit? Tf it mean?

He was a project manager at the Heritage Foundation and he was fired? That what it means?

That's kind of misleading by CNN. *my shocked face*

Dans, the architect is leaving to go help set up the next tangerine terrorist administration if they win in November. Allegedly this was the plan all along. Here's a real good article about it;

In an internal email obtained by Semafor, Dans said the work of the project “was due to wrap” after the political parties’ nominating conventions, which for Republicans was earlier this month.

“Our work is presently winding down, and I plan later in August to leave Heritage,” he wrote. “Electoral season is upon us, and I want to direct all my efforts to winning, bigly!”

So now they're gonna claim this one guy is the only force behind it and claim it's gone because he is.

Pretty easy to continue to hang this around their necks regardless. It’s out there in writing and it should be pretty easy to keep pointing out that Trump and Vance between them seem to know everyone involved.
